Henry Scott, our owner & CEO started out as an installer working out of a van from his home. In 1980, he opened Carpets By Henry, his first showroom in Greensboro, NC. Henry quickly earned a reputation for his quality installation and attention to detail. His passion for satisfying customers helped him quickly grow his business.

In the late nineties, Henry and his wife Judy, were invited by CCA Global Partners, to join the Carpet One Floor & Home retail flooring coop. The store name was changed to Carpet One By Henry and was immediately partnered with over 1,000 retailers throughout the world. This relationship gave the Scotts’ enormous buying power, from all the major brands, mills and manufacturers; which meant better quality, selection and pricing that could be offered to customers.

Henry quickly outgrew his current location which fueled his desire to have a larger location with a showroom. It was Judy, Henry’s wife, that found the current location at 2010 N. Church Street in Greensboro. After a vast remodel of the warehouse they purchased, an official grand opening date was set for September 12, 2011.

Henry loves to tell the story about his Grand Opening, being the day after 9-11 and the store had a line waiting when the doors opened. He had invited various manufacturer’s reps in to talk with customers that day and they were so busy that the reps had to leave their stations to help customers.

In 2003, Henry opened a second location in Winston-Salem, NC. This store was remodeled into a cute flooring boutique with its’ own vibe. Today the store carries all product lines with a full selection of tile and a “remnant warehouse” where customers love to browse.

Through the years, Carpet One By Henry has worked with numerous builders, designers, and residential customers up and down the east coast. Henry was widely known for his unique designs and customized installations. Their work has been recognized by Traditional Home magazine and Stanton Carpets.

The business today is still owned & managed by family members that span across three generations. Henry Scott serves as our President and CEO. Judy Scott, Henry’s wife serves as Vice President and handles our accounts receivables. Grady Scott, Henry’s brother serves as our Installation & Customer Service Manager. Ryan Scott, Henry’s son manages our Winston Salem operation while Emily Scott, Henry’s daughter manages our warehouse & rug crafting operations. Lily Scott, Henry’s granddaughter, serves alongside her “Papa” in our TV commercials.
